Black Sachbak Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
Black Sachbak is a thrash metal band from Israel, formed in 2010. We recently released our debut and toured Europe for the first time. This is the professional history, The real one is that we eat small fetuses to keep our youth since the 80's.

2.In October you had released your first album, how would you describe the musical sound that is present on the recording?
Well, I thought it's a pretty unique Thrash metal recording, like combining many styles together. Some people referred to it us as a Crossover act, which is fine by me, it's their take on the music. We mostly try to sound like no any other metal or punk band around.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Well, this album is dedicated mostly to political issues, mainly Anti-capitalism, some would call it Anarcho-Communist lyrics. The songs deals with current issues like stock markets falling, debt "Haircuts" for reach ugly people, the international monitory fund, the justice system in the Borurgeois state, etc.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Black Sachbak'?
Black Sachbak literally means "Black Hommie" or "My black friend" in Hebrew or Arabic. It's like a funny name around here because everybody thought us to be a cover band for Black Sabbath, which we aren't…they got the message after some gigs.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Well, we're pretty ecstatic, I personally hate metal bands standing numb on stage trying to look tough..that describes most of the Israeli metal scene. The whole concept of the band is not to be a "sober" band like these guys, Sachbak is pretty much the Anti-thesis to this scene. Israel's shows mostly suck, we've started to get real good attendance after the release, one was our launch for the album show which you can watch entirely in HD quality and really good sound on Youtube, and another I can think about was when we Headlined the Israeli "Thrashfest". We also had some pretty cool shows on our Euro tour in March, like all the shows in Czech Republic with bands like "Kaar", "Exorcizphobia", or "Stolen lives" in Prague or Icin, or in Germany with "Vladimir Harkonnen" or "Wifebeater" in Munster, Hamburg, Braunschweig… you'll here on all these bands eventually!

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Right now Black Sachbak is focusing on writing our next album, which will be a concept album (it has plot already, and we're composing it), so touring is…you know, it takes time and money. We might tour Europe in April next year (nor for sure), and we also got a recent offer to come do some gigs in Russia (like a real offer, a promoter guy from there), when we did a show with a Russian band that toured Israel, 4scums, so that's an option we're looking into. After we'll get more reach the plan is to go and conquer planet EARTH, like go around the globe.

7.Stormspell Records is going to re-issue your 2013 album, can you tell us a little bit more about this deal?
They're really nice, we struck a deal with them some months ago, they're American so we exchanged Emails mostly. It's pretty simple, they gave us some money (royalties) for releasing some CD's.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of thrash and crossover?
I think from fans we got shitloads of really positive responses, many people contacted me about it and shared the album with their "metal scene", bought it on-line, I was pretty much surprised that some people actually knew the songs' lyrics while touring.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
You'll catch it on the next release! Black Sachbak is making an album with a purpose, beyond the known political purpose of it (it will contain a story with a specific message about the whole Rock'n'roll industry and world politics combined). NO PAY NO GAIN is, to my belief and sorry for not being modest, one of the best metal releases of the past few years, in terms of being you know…our own kinda band, not being typical. The next release will be even weirder.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I'm on a NWOBHM period, though I always listen to everything new that comes out and is interesting in some level, I listen to a lot of SATAN (the band) releases recently, since the last album, for example. I think Black Sachbak is mainly like a unique band, but if I start thinking about bands that influence me in my writing…very long list, let's say from "Nuclear Assault" to "Sabbat" (the British one) to "Megadeth" to "Coroner" and "Cro-mags"…you see, that never ends…

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
Well Hash, you've listened to the song. Weed also. Time travel. Eating roadkills. I'm into worker unions also, but I don't think the rest of the band are

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Keep it true- Listen to Sachbak, the indis-poseurs.
